WAAS - The CERES LOCUSTOX Foundation pesticide residue control laboratory is the 1st SOAC accredited laboratory according to ISO IEC17025 v17.

FEBRUARY 18, 2020. SOAC has just announced the accreditation of the pesticide residues laboratory in agricultural products of CERES LOCUSTOX Foundation, Dakar Senegal. 13th accredited structure, this laboratory is positioned as:

  • 1st SOAC accredited laboratory in Senegal
  • 1st SOAC accredited laboratory according to the new version of ISO standard IEC17025 v17
  • 1st laboratory having completely completed its process of transfer of accreditation from Cofrac (France) to SOAC in compliance with UEMOA and ECOWAS regulations

The need to be able to rely on accredited analytical laboratories has become urgent in the field of pesticide residues:
Health and environmental risks are increased by the fact that around 30% of pesticides marketed in developing countries (for an estimated value of US $ 900 million per year) do not do not meet international quality standards. (Source: Pesticide Action Network (PAN) AFRICA Dakar Senegal 2006).
Africa remains one of the regions where pesticides cause the most problems, totaling half of accidental poisonings and more than 75% of fatal cases. (Source: Pesticide Action Network (PAN) AFRICA Dakar Senegal 2009).
