The National Laboratory for Drug Quality Control (LNCQM) held an official ceremony on November 20, 2025, in Conakry, to award its accreditation to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. A delegation from the SOAC (Central Office for the Administration of Consumer Affairs), led by the Resident Representative in Côte d'Ivoire and Director General, Mr. Marcel GBAGUIDI, was present. Following the ceremony, Dr. Oumar Diouhé Bah, Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, received representatives from SOAC and the laboratory. This provided an opportunity for the Director, Ms. Djoran KEITA, to personally present him with the accreditation certificate awarded to the LNCQM. The Minister stated that this accreditation was a major achievement for Guinea's health sovereignty. This international recognition, effective since November 6, 2025, attests to the reliability of the analyses produced and strengthens the fight against counterfeit medicines, which are responsible for thousands of deaths in West Africa. The LNCQM has become the country's first accredited health laboratory and joins the select group of Guinean facilities meeting international standards. The SOAC commended the laboratory teams for their outstanding work and called for continued expansion of accredited testing.
